Promise
Redeeming Parenting Moment word is: Promise
Verse: Genesis 3:4 “But the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’”
Satan over promises and under delivers. Sin becomes attractive the more it speaks to our desires, cravings, and wishes. Satan completely counters what God has said. He calls God a liar. The audacity of contradicting God makes the speaker seem confident, which can cause questions to arise. What we once thought true is now considered false. Parents help your kids identify the messages that they are hearing. Advertisements, popularity, success, clothing, and so much more are speaking promises to your children every day. Clearly identify the promises being made and then compare it to the promises God has made in Scripture. Quickly you will identify promises as either true or a lie.
Team
Redeeming Marriage Moment word is: Team
Verse: Genesis 2:22 “Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.”
God took a rib from the man and made a woman. It is interesting that God elected to make a woman this way. He could have formed her out of the ground like he did with the man. God could have spoke and the woman would have appeared like the sun and stars. He could have taken any body part from the man and make a woman. In Mathew Henry’s Commentary on Genesis he gave this reason, “That the woman was made of a rib out of the side of Adam; not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be beloved.” The best word to explain why God used a rib is team. From the beginning, God intended for the man and woman to be a team working with one vision and goal.
Perceive
Redeeming Leadership Moment word is: Perceive
Verse: Genesis 2:20 “So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to Him.”
God had previously stated, “it was not good for man to be alone.” As the leader, God, already understood the problem. In fact, God had taken the next step and developed a plan to solve the problem. So the question must be asked, “why did God bring all the animals to Adam?” One reason would be for Adam to perceive the need. Adam need to understand that there was something missing in this exotically beautiful paradise. Before providing the solution, God allowed the need to be perceived by Adam. As a leader, you see the problem and you may even have a solution, take time to help others perceive the area of opportunity.
